Religion has always been a factor that affects customers demand particularly the Eating habit about what food and drinks to be consumed. The religion of Christianity forbids eating meat or fish on Good Fridays during festive period such as Easter, this belief affects their demand. Also Muslims and most of the clergymen forbid alcoholic, as alcoholic is one of the hospitality product which yield high level of profit.
Muslims will never demand for pork or pork products during and after the fasting period, this also affects their demand for hospitality product.
The following are seen as the negative impression which can equally be called the stigma in the hospitality industry.
The hotel is used as a venue for evil activities where by criminals and other evil men lodge.
Most people do not see any good thing about hospitality industry
The industry has a specific gender that is attached to it i.e., Female gender
The brothel brought a wrong impression on the hotel by calling themselves commercial sexual worker.
People believe that it is always 24-hours service, and therefore the staff will have no time for themselves and their families.
Also the mode of dressing of un professionals in the industry has given the people a bad impression towards the industry.
After knowing the stigma, it is now important to take proper control measures in that aspect of staffs to be mindful of whatever they are doing (It has to be moderate and polite) and to avoid future occurrence as this will help the hospitality industry to move forward and to be respected.
